Outermost Excursions

Our Service

Outermost Excursions guide service is dedicated to bringing you the finest fly or light tackle fishing our expertise can provide. Whether it's poling the flats tropical style, dredging rips, or chasing bluefin tuna, years of experience and hard work each day will provide our clients with the best possible opportunities to hook up. Our trips depart from Pamet Harbor in Truro Massachussets.

Twenty five years of fishing experience, with fifteen of those years as a professional guide will give you the advantage of being able to spend your day with a captain who has a reputation for finding the fish when the going gets tough. Not ever day on the water provides the angler or the guide with perfect conditions and cooperative fish. Any fisherman or guide who tells you he never gets "snakebit" would simply be lying. We all encounter tough days. That's when the experience of knowing where to be, and when to be there, along with the right fly and tackle choices can make the difference between takeing a boat ride or catching fish. My focus is always on sharing knowledge and having fun. Over the years I have encountered clients who relate stories of criticism at the hands of their guides, making for an unpleasant experience, for which they were paying. I ALWAYS take the opposite tack. Teaching, sharing helpful hints, being patient, and assessing an individual's abilities, to me, are some of the most important components of being a quality guide.

Our season for striped bass and blue fish runs from mid May through October with the end of May until mid July being prime time for site casting these species. As the water warms up we generally think about fishing deep, however each year brings a new scenario and we always stress the importance of being well prepared for any fishing situation. Multiple rods and lines are always at the ready. Whenever possible, we will try to find fish on the flats, which seems to be just about everyone's favorite style of fishing. Successful site casting to fish in shallow water is an extremely rewarding experience.

The blue fin fishery in Cape Cod bay has been very consistent in recent years, and provides the ultimate fly or light tackle challenge. Coming tight to one of those bruisers can be an angling experience of a lifetime. I can provide the fly or spin tackle necessary to tangle with these incredible fish, as most inshore anglers don't have this specialized gear as part of their arsenal. There is no problem with taking legal fish for the table when a clients wishes, however most of the time, catch and release is the order of the day. I also prefer to use barbless hooks, and generally replace trebles on lures with singles to help insure the good recovery of the fish. A great photo is definitely worth a thousand words.
