Boat and Equipment

You will spend your day on the water fishing from a Jones Brothers 1910 Lite Tackle edition center console. This 20ft vessel is without question one of the top choices of guides and serious anglers on the east coast for a number of reasons. For those of you not familiar with this beautifully designed craft, it's the perfect boat for poling in skinny water and sightcasting, or running dry in the big chop we can encounter here in the northeast. The boat is specifically laid out with fly fishing in mind. It features raised front and rear casting platforms, all recessed hardware, lots of cooler and live well space, and ample seating. We carry on board the latest in safety gear above and beyond what the coarst guard requires, as well as outstanding electronics with hand held backups.

You are always welcome to bring your own gear, as most anglers are most comfortable with gear they are used to. However, we carry rods and reels are from Orvis, Sage, Tibor, Albright, St. Croix, Van Staal, Quatum, and Penn etc. Fly line choices can make all the difference between a productive or non-productive day. I would advise clients to have a full intermediate sink, and have at least 350 grain sink tip line with an intermediate running line. Flies especially designed for this fishery can be provided, however, I certainly encourage clients to experiment wtith flies of their own design, or use "bugs" that have proven productive for them in the past.

What to bring:

  1. Always bring good foul weather gear and appropriate clothing to handle any weather situation. It's always better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it

  2. Polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, a brimmed hat, and a pair of non-maring comfortable boat shoes, sandals, or sneakers are essential.

  3. Bring your lunch-- water, soft drinks etc. munchies will be provided. NO ALCHOHOL or glass containers please

  4. Bring your own still or video camera, and a cell phone, however cell signals are not available some places we go.
